See It on a Real Button, Not Just a Swatch

A gradient that looks good as a flat rectangle can look completely different once applied to an actual button or card with rounded corners and text on it. This tool previews your gradient on both at once, alongside curated presets, an animation toggle that outputs a full working @keyframes rule, and export options for plain CSS, Tailwind, and SCSS.

How to Use This Tool

  1. 1Pick a preset or start from scratch10 curated gradients to start from, or build your own with any number of color stops.
  2. 2Choose linear, radial, or conicAdjust the angle or shape depending on the type.
  3. 3Add, remove, and reposition color stopsEach stop has its own color and position along the gradient.
  4. 4Export in the format you needPlain CSS, a Tailwind arbitrary-value class, or an SCSS variable.

What Makes This Generator Different

  1. 1Preview on an actual button and card, not just a flat swatchA gradient can look great as a rectangle and completely different once applied to a rounded button or card with text on it — seeing both at once catches that mismatch immediately.
  2. 2The animate option is a genuinely rare featureMost free gradient tools only output a static background value. Toggling animation adds a smooth, shifting gradient effect with the full @keyframes rule included — copy-paste ready, not something you have to write yourself.
  3. 3Randomize gives you a real starting point, not a blank pageOne click generates a complete, reasonable-looking gradient — type, angle, and 2-3 colors — which is often faster than building one from nothing when you're not sure what you want yet.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between linear, radial, and conic gradients?

Linear gradients transition in a straight line at a given angle. Radial gradients transition outward from a center point in a circle or ellipse. Conic gradients rotate around a center point like a color wheel — useful for pie-chart effects or unusual glow shapes.

How does the animated gradient actually work?

It enlarges the gradient background to 200% of the element's size and animates its position back and forth, which creates a smooth color-shifting effect — the generated CSS includes the full @keyframes rule needed, ready to paste as-is.

Can I use the Tailwind export directly in my class list?

Yes — it's formatted as a valid Tailwind arbitrary-value utility (e.g. `bg-[linear-gradient(...)]`), which you can drop straight into a className alongside your other utility classes.

How many color stops can a gradient have?

As many as you add — there's no fixed limit. Each stop has its own color and position percentage, so you can build anything from a simple two-color fade to a complex multi-color transition.

Is my gradient design saved anywhere?

No — everything is generated locally in your browser using plain CSS. Nothing you build here is saved or transmitted.

Is this gradient generator free to use?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up and no limit on how many gradients you create.
