Rule-Based, Not Guesswork

This works the same way trusted SVG optimization tools do — a fixed set of deterministic cleanup rules, not an AI guessing what's safe to remove. Every transformation (stripping comments, removing unused namespaces, rounding coordinate precision) is well-understood and predictable, and the side-by-side preview lets you visually confirm the optimized version still matches the original before you use it — a genuine risk with more aggressive SVG optimization that this tool makes easy to check rather than just trust.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will optimizing my SVG change how it looks?

At Safe and Balanced levels, no — they only remove redundant data (editor metadata, comments, unused namespace declarations) and round coordinate precision to a level that's invisible at normal display sizes. Aggressive mode rounds more and removes title/description text, which can very occasionally cause a fraction-of-a-pixel difference — the side-by-side preview is there specifically so you can confirm nothing actually changed before using the result.

What exactly does "editor cruft" mean?

Design tools like Illustrator and Figma embed extra data in their SVG exports that has nothing to do with how the image renders — comments naming the export tool, `<metadata>` blocks, editor-specific namespaced attributes (like `inkscape:` or `sodipodi:` prefixes), and default IDs like `Layer_1` that nothing actually references. None of it affects the visual output; it just adds bytes.

Why does rounding coordinate precision matter?

Exported SVGs often contain coordinates with far more decimal places than a screen can actually render — a value like `12.384729384` on a path that will only ever display at a few dozen pixels wide. Rounding those numbers down to 1–3 decimal places shrinks the file meaningfully with no visible difference.

Is my SVG uploaded anywhere?

No — the entire optimization process runs in your browser via the standard DOMParser and XMLSerializer APIs. Nothing you paste here is sent to a server.
