Upload a screenshot or photo to censor

Upload an image, then drag over faces, number plates, names or account numbers to hide them.

Hide It Properly Before You Share

Screenshots and photos often show more than intended: a card number, an address, a child's face, a number plate. Mark each one and see the censored result live before downloading. Use a solid black box for anything written, since pixelated text can sometimes be recovered, and pixelate or blur for faces when you want the photo to still look natural.

Good to Know

  • For text (card and account numbers, passwords, addresses, QR codes), use Black box. Pixelated or lightly blurred text can sometimes be read back: researchers have released tools that recover pixelated text from screenshots.
  • Pixelate and blur suit faces and backgrounds, where you want the picture to stay natural. Raise the strength until nothing is recognisable in the preview.
  • Strength is measured against the size of the photo, so the same setting hides the same amount on a small screenshot and a 12-megapixel photo.
  • Check the whole image: reflections, name badges, parcel labels, browser tabs and notification banners often give away more than the main subject.
  • Photos can carry hidden GPS location and camera details. The download is re-saved from the pixels, so that metadata is not included.
  • Nothing is uploaded. The image is processed on your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is safest for hiding text: black box, pixelate or blur?

A black box. It replaces the pixels with solid black, so there is nothing left to recover. Pixelation and blur keep some of the original information, and tools exist that can partly reconstruct pixelated or lightly blurred text, especially from screenshots with a known font.

How do I blur a face in a photo?

Choose Blur (or Pixelate) and Oval, then drag over the face. Increase the strength until the face can't be recognised in the preview, then download.

Can I change or undo an area after drawing it?

Yes. Tap an area to select it: drag it to move, drag the corner dot to resize, switch its style or shape, or remove it with ×. Undo steps back through your changes, and Delete removes the selected area on a keyboard.

Does it change the rest of the image?

No. Only the areas you mark are changed. Everything else stays at full resolution. JPG and WebP are saved at high quality (92%); PNG is lossless.

Does it remove location data from my photo?

Yes. The download is created from the image pixels only, so EXIF metadata such as GPS location, camera model and date taken is not carried over.

Is this free?

Yes: no sign-up, no watermark and no limit.
