Split It Right the First Time

The grid trick only works if the pieces are the right shape and posted in the right order. This splitter makes 3:4 tiles that match Instagram's current profile grid, numbers them in the order to post, and lets you drag the frame so the important part of the photo isn't cut off. It also makes seamless carousel panoramas and plain grids of any size.

How to Use This Tool

Good to Know

  • Instagram's profile grid has shown posts as 3:4 tiles since 2025, so 3:4 pieces (1080 × 1440 px) appear on your profile without being cropped.
  • Post grid pieces in number order. Post 1 is the bottom-right piece; the top-left piece goes last, because your profile shows the newest post first.
  • For a carousel panorama, put all slides in one post, in slide order. Swiping then moves smoothly across the whole picture.
  • Pieces are made at up to 1080 px wide, the most Instagram keeps. A photo smaller than that is flagged, because the pieces would look soft.
  • JPG keeps photo files small; choose PNG for graphics, text or images with transparency.
  • Nothing is uploaded. The pieces and the ZIP are made in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

In what order do I post the pieces for an Instagram grid?

Post them in the numbered order: Post 1 first (the bottom-right piece) and the highest number last (the top-left piece). Instagram puts each new post at the top-left of your profile, pushing older ones right and down, so the pieces end up in place. Don't post anything else until the set is finished.

What size should Instagram grid pieces be?

Since 2025 the profile grid shows posts in a 3:4 shape, so 1080 × 1440 px pieces show completely. 4:5 (1080 × 1350) and square (1080 × 1080) pieces also work but are trimmed a little on the grid.

How do I make a seamless carousel panorama?

Choose Carousel panorama, pick 2–10 slides and a slide shape (4:5 suits most feeds), drag to frame the photo, then upload all the slides in one carousel post in slide order.

Will the pieces line up perfectly?

Yes. Pieces are cut edge to edge from the same frame with no gaps or overlaps. In a custom grid, every pixel is kept, so pieces may differ by one pixel when the size doesn't divide evenly.

Can I split into any number of pieces?

Yes. Custom grid allows 1–10 rows and 1–10 columns and keeps the photo's own proportions.

Is it free?

Yes: no watermark, no sign-up and no limit.
