What Is This Tool For?

PDFs and images serve different purposes — a PDF is best for sharing a document as a whole, while individual pages as images are easier to preview, edit, or drop into a slide deck. This tool goes both ways: pull the pages out of a PDF as images using the same rendering engine that powers PDF.js in Firefox, or combine a set of images into a single shareable PDF built directly in your browser.

Which Direction Do You Actually Need?

  • PDF → Image, when you need: A single page to drop into a slide deck, a document preview thumbnail, an image to paste into a chat app that won't preview PDFs, or a page you need to edit as a picture rather than a document.
  • Image → PDF, when you need: A scanned form or a set of receipts combined into one shareable file, a photo-based portfolio or lookbook as a single document, or multiple screenshots bundled together instead of sent as separate attachments.

Good to Know

  • Resolution: 72 dpi suits screens and chats, 150 dpi is a good all-rounder, and 300 dpi is for printing or zooming into small text.
  • Choose JPG for scanned or photo pages (smaller files) and PNG for crisp text and line drawings.
  • Type pages like 1-3, 5 to convert only those pages from a long PDF.
  • When making a PDF, "Match each image" turns the page landscape for wide photos, so they aren't shrunk onto a portrait page.
  • "Image quality: High" keeps photos sharp while keeping the PDF a sensible size; "Original size" embeds full-resolution photos and can make a very large file.
  • Nothing is uploaded: PDF pages are drawn and new PDFs are built in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can this handle password-protected PDFs?

Yes. If the PDF needs a password to open, a box appears; enter it and convert as usual. The password stays in your browser.

How many pages/images can I convert at once?

There's no fixed limit. Pages and images are processed one at a time, so long PDFs work even on phones; very large jobs just take longer.

Will the PDF I build keep my images at full quality?

With "Original size" photos are embedded at full resolution. "High" (the default) limits them to 2400 pixels on the longest side at high JPEG quality, which looks the same on screen and in print but keeps the PDF much smaller.

Can I control the order of pages in the PDF I'm building?

Yes. Use the up and down arrows on each image to change the order, and ↻ to rotate a sideways scan.

What resolution do the extracted images come out at?

You choose: 72, 150 (default) or 300 dpi. An A4 page at 150 dpi is about 1240 × 1754 pixels; at 300 dpi it is about 2480 × 3508.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. Every PDF is rendered or built in your browser.
