A Fair Draw for Classrooms, Giveaways and Teams

Paste a list and spin the wheel to choose who answers next, who wins the prize or who goes first. Need several winners? Draw them in one go. Splitting a class or a group of friends? Make balanced random teams by number or by size. Every pick uses secure randomness, and the wheel always stops on the name it announces.

How to Use This Tool

  1. 1Paste your namesOne per line, or a single line separated by commas. The list is remembered on this device for next time.
  2. 2Choose how to pickSpin the wheel for one winner at a time, pick several winners instantly, or split everyone into teams.
  3. 3Go elimination-style if you likeTick "Remove each winner" to draw prizes or turns without repeats. "Put everyone back" restores the full list.
  4. 4Share the resultWinners are kept in "Picked so far"; teams can be reshuffled or copied as text.

Good to Know

  • Every pick uses your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, with no bias towards any position in the list. The wheel decides the winner first, then spins to stop on that name.
  • The wheel stops at a random point inside the winning slice, not always its centre, and always on the name it announces.
  • Repeated names are each treated as a separate entry; "Remove repeats" tidies the list if that wasn't intended. Entering a name twice on purpose doubles its chance.
  • In elimination mode the winner leaves the wheel when you spin again, so the pointer stays on them while you announce it.
  • Teams can be set by number of teams or by people per team; sizes never differ by more than one.
  • Your list stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the name picker really random and fair?

Yes. The winner is drawn with crypto.getRandomValues, the browser's secure random source, using rejection sampling so every entry has exactly the same chance. The spin animation is only a display of that result.

Can I pick more than one winner?

Yes. Use "Pick instantly" and enter how many winners you need; they are drawn at once with no repeats. Or spin the wheel repeatedly with "Remove each winner" ticked.

Can I use it for a giveaway or raffle?

Yes. For a public giveaway, screen-record the spin, or share the "Picked so far" list, so people can see the draw happened.

How are teams made?

Names are shuffled, then dealt one at a time into each team in turn, so team sizes differ by at most one. Press Reshuffle for a different split.

How many names can I add?

As many as you like. Up to 36 names are written on the wheel; with more, the slices are too thin to label and the winner is shown below the wheel.

Will my list be saved?

It's remembered in this browser on this device only, so a teacher can reopen the page and find the class list. Clear it with the Clear button.
