Track Live, Then Plan Ahead

Add courses one at a time and watch the cumulative, credit-weighted GPA update live — across either the US 4.0 scale or the Indian 10-point CGPA scale, with an automatic percentage conversion for the latter. The What-If Planner below then works out exactly what average is needed in remaining courses to hit a target, a genuinely useful planning feature most free GPA tools skip.

How to Use This Tool

  1. 1Pick a grading scaleUS 4.0 scale, or Indian 10-point CGPA.
  2. 2Add your coursesName, credit hours, and grade for each — the cumulative GPA updates live.
  3. 3Use the What-If PlannerEnter a target GPA and remaining credit hours to see the average you'd need in what's left.

Good to Know

  • Cumulative GPA is credit-weighted, not a simple average of grades — a 4-credit course affects the total more than a 1-credit one, matching how real transcripts calculate it.
  • The CGPA-to-percentage conversion (CGPA × 9.5) follows the formula commonly used by CBSE and many affiliated Indian universities — some institutions use a different factor, so check your specific university's policy if this matters for an official purpose.
  • The What-If Planner can return a required average above the scale's maximum, meaning the target isn't mathematically reachable with the remaining credits entered — the tool flags this directly rather than showing a misleading number.
  • Nothing entered here is saved — reloading the page clears your course list.

The GPA Formula

GPA = Σ (Credits × Grade Points) / Σ Credits
Each course's grade points are weighted by how many credits it's worth, not counted equally

Example: a 3-credit A (4.0) and a 4-credit B+ (3.3) → (3×4.0 + 4×3.3) / (3+4) = 25.2 / 7 = 3.60 GPA — not a simple 3.65 average of the two grades, because the 4-credit course counts for more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this match my university's official GPA exactly?

The underlying credit-weighted math is standard, but some institutions use slightly different grade-point values (a B+ might be 3.3 at one school and 3.33 at another) — check your specific school's grading policy if you need an exact official figure.

What does the What-If Planner actually calculate?

Given your current GPA and credits, a target GPA, and how many credit hours remain, it solves for the average grade point you'd need across those remaining credits to land exactly on the target.

Why did it say my target isn't reachable?

This happens when the required average would need to exceed the scale's maximum (4.0 or 10.0) — meaning even straight top grades in every remaining course wouldn't be enough to hit that target with the credit hours entered.

Is this free to use?

Yes, completely free, with no account and no limit on how many courses you add.
