What Is This Tool For?

Every social platform expects a different image size — an Instagram Story is tall, a Facebook cover is wide and short, a YouTube thumbnail is a specific 16:9. Uploading the wrong ratio means the platform crops it for you, often awkwardly, cutting off a face or a headline mid-word. This tool lets you pick the exact preset and see the crop before you download, so you control the composition instead of leaving it to whatever the platform decides.

How to Use This Tool

  1. 1Add your photoDrag it in or choose it. iPhone HEIC photos work too.
  2. 2Tap what mattersFaces are found automatically. Otherwise tap the person or product you want to keep, and every crop centres on it.
  3. 3Pick your sizesChoose from 33 sizes across Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads and TikTok. Profile photos are previewed as circles, and Stories and banners show the safe area.
  4. 4Download one or allDownload any size, or every chosen size in one ZIP, sorted into a folder per platform.

Which Presets Suit Which Photos

  1. 1Square and near-square formats (Instagram Post, Portrait)Forgiving for most photos since they're close to a typical camera's native ratio — a small center crop usually loses very little.
  2. 2Tall formats (Instagram Story, Pinterest Pin)Aggressive crops on a landscape original — a wide photo squeezed into a tall frame will lose most of its left and right edges, so these work best starting from a portrait-oriented photo.
  3. 3Wide formats (Facebook Cover, YouTube Thumbnail, X Post)The opposite problem — a portrait photo loses a lot of its top and bottom in a wide crop, so a landscape original with the subject centered works best here.

Good to Know

  • Instagram's portrait 4:5 (1080×1350) takes the most room in the feed. The newer 3:4 (1080×1440) matches how your profile grid shows posts.
  • Stories, Reels and WhatsApp Status are 1080×1920, but buttons cover the top and bottom. Keep text inside the dashed guide.
  • YouTube banners are 2560×1440, but phones only show the middle strip (about 1546×423). Put your name and logo there.
  • "Fit" keeps the whole photo and fills the gaps with a blurred copy or a colour, which suits group photos, screenshots and posters that must not be cropped.
  • If your photo is smaller than a size, the card warns you that it will look soft, so you can use a larger original.
  • Nothing is uploaded: every size is made in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my photo get stretched or distorted?

No. In "Fill" mode the photo is scaled evenly and the extra edges are trimmed; in "Fit" mode the whole photo is shown with a blurred or coloured background. Nothing is ever squashed or stretched.

Why is part of my image cut off after resizing?

Because the target aspect ratio (e.g. a square Instagram post) is different from your original photo's ratio, filling the frame without distortion means trimming some content from the edges — this is the same "cover" behavior most photo apps use.

How do I control exactly what part of the photo stays in frame?

Tap the most important spot on your photo and every size keeps it in frame. If a face is found, crops centre on it automatically. Use the zoom slider for a tighter crop, or "Fit" to keep the whole photo.

Which format should I download in?

Every size is saved as a high-quality JPG, which all platforms accept and which uploads fastest. YouTube thumbnails are kept under YouTube's 2 MB limit automatically.

Do these exact pixel sizes still match what platforms expect in 2026?

Yes. They were checked in October 2026 against YouTube Help and current platform guides, including Instagram's 3:4 grid format. Platforms do change sizes, so for a paid ad also check the platform's ad specifications.

What size is a WhatsApp DP?

WhatsApp shows profile photos as a circle and stores them at up to 640×640 pixels. Choose WhatsApp → Profile photo (DP): the circle preview shows exactly what people will see, so keep your face in the middle.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Every size is made in your browser, so your photo never leaves your device.
