Counting Up, Not Down

Sometimes you don't know how long something will take — that's exactly what a stopwatch is for. Start it, record a lap whenever a segment finishes, and see both how long that segment took and your running total.

How to Use This Tool

  1. 1Press StartThe stopwatch begins counting up immediately.
  2. 2Record a lap anytimeEach lap shows its split time and the running total.
  3. 3Stop and resume freelyStopping doesn't reset the time — resume right where you left off.
  4. 4Reset when you're doneClears the time and every recorded lap.

Good to Know

  • This is a genuinely different tool from the Countdown Timer (which counts down to zero) and the Pomodoro Timer (fixed work/break intervals) — this counts freely up from zero, for timing anything of unknown length.
  • Split time is how long that specific lap took; the total is the cumulative time since you pressed Start — both are shown for every lap.
  • Useful for timing workouts, cooking steps, presentations, or any repeated activity where you want per-segment timing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between this and the Countdown Timer?

A stopwatch counts up from zero with no set end point — you decide when to stop. The Countdown Timer counts down to a specific time or event instead.

Does closing the tab reset the stopwatch?

Yes — time isn't saved between sessions, so keep the tab open while timing something.

How accurate is the timing?

It uses your browser's high-resolution timing, accurate to the hundredth of a second shown on screen.
