Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?

camelCase starts with a lowercase letter (e.g. myVariableName) and is the standard for variables and function names in JavaScript and many other languages. PascalCase capitalizes every word including the first (e.g. MyComponentName) and is typically used for class names, types, and React components.

When should I use snake_case vs kebab-case?

snake_case (words joined by underscores) is the convention in Python and many database column names. kebab-case (words joined by hyphens) is standard for CSS class names, URL slugs, and command-line flags. Neither is universally "correct" — it depends on the language or system you're writing for.

How does Sentence case handle multiple sentences?

It capitalises the first letter of each sentence (after . ! ? or the Hindi ।) and of each new line, writes "I" as a capital, and lowercases the rest. Acronyms like NASA are kept unless the whole text was in capitals.

How does Title Case decide which words to capitalise?

It follows the common headline style used by AP and Chicago: short words such as a, an, the, and, of, in, on, to and for stay lowercase unless they are the first or last word or come after a colon. So "the lord of the rings" becomes "The Lord of the Rings". Acronyms like NASA and brand names like iPhone are kept as they are. To capitalise every word, use "Capitalize Each Word".

How do I fix text typed with CAPS LOCK on?

Paste it and copy the Sentence case result. When the text is mostly capitals, every word is lowered first, then the first letter of each sentence and the word "I" are capitalised. Press Use to put the result back in the box and edit it further.

Does this tool preserve numbers and punctuation?

For UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, and alternating case, yes — punctuation and numbers are preserved exactly. For the code cases (camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, CONSTANT_CASE and dot.case), the text is split into words first, so punctuation becomes a separator. Each line is converted separately, and letters from other languages, such as é or Hindi, are kept.

Is my text sent anywhere when I use this tool?

No — every conversion happens locally in your browser using plain JavaScript string operations. Nothing you type here is transmitted anywhere.

Is this case converter free to use?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up and no length limit.
