Today's Rate, and What You'll Really Pay

Convert dollars to rupees, dirhams to rupees, or any of 160+ currencies at the day's mid-market rate, in either direction. Because banks and cards rarely give you that exact rate, you can add a typical forex markup and see what a foreign payment will actually cost, or how much you'll get when you exchange money.

Good to Know

  • Rates are mid-market rates for 160+ currencies, updated once a day by the provider. The update time is shown under the converter.
  • Banks, cards and money changers add a margin on top. Indian debit and credit cards often charge about 3.5% on foreign currency payments (plus GST on that fee), while forex cards are usually cheaper.
  • Cryptocurrencies aren't included; this covers government-issued currencies only.
  • If the rates can't be loaded, you'll see a Try again button rather than wrong numbers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do the exchange rates update?

The rate provider publishes new rates once a day, and the time of the last update is shown under the converter. That is fine for planning, shopping and invoices, but not for trading, where prices change every second.

Will I get exactly this rate at my bank?

Usually not. This is the mid-market rate, halfway between buying and selling prices. Banks, card networks and money-transfer services add a margin or fee. Choose a markup in the calculator to see the effect, for example a 3.5% card markup on a $100 payment.

How much is the forex markup on Indian cards?

It depends on the card. Many Indian debit and credit cards charge around 2% to 3.5% of the amount as a foreign currency markup, plus 18% GST on that fee; some premium and forex cards charge less or nothing. Check your card's schedule of charges.

Does this support cryptocurrency conversion?

No. It covers government-issued currencies only.
