One Converter for Everyday and Indian Units

Length, weight, temperature, volume, cooking cups, area and land, lakh and crore, speed, time, data, pressure, energy, fuel economy, wire gauge and shoe size, all in one place. Type on either side and the other side updates; every factor is the exact defined value. Land measures used in India, such as gaj, guntha, cent, marla, kanal, ground and ankanam, convert straight to square feet, square metres and acres.

How to Use This Tool

  1. 1Pick a category15 categories, including Indian land units, lakh and crore, cooking cups, shoe size and wire gauge.
  2. 2Type a value on either sideType in the left box or the right box; the other updates as you type. A sum like "150 + 20" works too.
  3. 3Swap or switch units anytimeThe ⇄ button instantly reverses the conversion.
  4. 4Go further with batch mode or a printable tableConvert a whole list of values at once, or generate a reference table you can print.

Good to Know

  • Land units follow their standard sizes: 1 gaj = 1 sq yard = 9 sq ft, 1 guntha = 1,089 sq ft, 1 cent = 435.6 sq ft, 1 marla = 272.25 sq ft, 1 kanal = 20 marla, 1 ground = 2,400 sq ft and 1 ankanam = 72 sq ft. Bigha and biswa change from state to state, so check the local value.
  • Every factor is the exact defined value (for example 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg and 1 inch = 2.54 cm), so results don't drift in the later decimals.
  • The cooking category keeps US, Metric, and Imperial cups separate — they're genuinely different sizes (236.6ml vs 250ml vs 284.1ml), a real source of recipe errors when mixed up.
  • Shoe sizes are approximate — there's no universal formula, since sizing varies by brand and style, so this uses a widely-referenced conversion chart.
  • Wire gauge (AWG) uses the exact standard geometric formula, not a lookup table, so it works for any gauge value, not just common ones.
  • The value field accepts simple math (like "3 * 12" or "(10+5)/3") — no need to pre-calculate before converting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is temperature handled differently from other categories?

Temperature scales (Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin) don't share a common zero point, so converting between them needs a formula rather than a simple multiplication factor — that's handled automatically here.

What does batch mode do?

Paste a list of values (one per line) and every one converts at once using your selected units — useful for processing a spreadsheet column of measurements.

Can I print a conversion chart?

Yes. Click "Show printable table", then "Print", for a reference table from your chosen unit to every other unit in that category.

How many square feet are in a guntha, cent or acre?

1 guntha is 1,089 sq ft (about 101.17 m²), 1 cent is 435.6 sq ft (about 40.47 m²) and 1 acre is 43,560 sq ft. So 1 acre equals 40 guntha or 100 cents.

How do I convert lakh and crore to million and billion?

1 lakh = 100,000 and 1 crore = 10 million. 10 lakh = 1 million, 100 crore = 1 billion. Open "Lakh / Crore" and type the number on either side.

Are the conversions exact?

Yes. The tool uses the exact defined factors (1 inch = 2.54 cm, 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg, 1 US gallon = 3.785411784 L) and shows up to 10 significant digits. Shoe sizes are the one exception: they follow a common chart and are approximate.
