Good to Know

  • Profile pictures on WhatsApp, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube are shown as circles, so cropping to a circle first shows exactly what people will see.
  • A thin white ring with a small gap makes a photo stand out on any background, which is great for team pages and email signatures.
  • “Fit whole photo” puts the entire picture inside the circle with a background colour around it, useful for logos.
  • Use the arrow keys to nudge the crop and + / − to zoom, for precise placement.
  • Making avatars for a whole team? Add all the photos at once: each is centred on its face, and the same style is used for all.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make a round profile picture?

Add your photo, check the face is centred (drag to adjust), and download the transparent PNG. Upload it as your profile picture, and the app will show it in a circle.

Why is the background transparent?

So the corners outside the circle disappear on any background, such as a website, a document or a presentation. If you need a solid background, pick a colour or save as JPG.

What size should my profile picture be?

512 × 512 px works well everywhere. Use 1080 px for the sharpest result on high-resolution screens, or 2048 px for print.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Cropping and face detection happen entirely in your browser. It is free with no watermark.
