Search a Whole Spreadsheet, Not Just One Cell at a Time

Ctrl+F in a spreadsheet finds one match at a time and tells you nothing about where those matches actually concentrate. This tool searches every cell at once, shows the total match count and a per-column breakdown so you can see which fields actually reference your keyword, and lets you export just the matching rows as a new CSV — all without the file ever leaving your browser.

How to Use This Tool

  1. 1Choose a .csv or .xlsx fileThe file is read directly in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server.
  2. 2Type the keyword you're searching forResults update instantly across every row and column in the sheet.
  3. 3Check the per-column breakdownSee exactly which columns the keyword shows up in, and how often.
  4. 4Export the matching rowsDownload just the rows that contain a match as a clean CSV file.

Where This Comes In Handy

  1. 1Auditing a large export for a specific valueFinding every row that mentions a particular product, customer, or status in a spreadsheet with thousands of rows is far faster than scrolling and using Ctrl+F, which only finds one match at a time.
  2. 2Checking which column data actually lives inWhen a spreadsheet has inconsistent structure or unfamiliar column headers, the per-column match breakdown shows exactly where a keyword actually appears.
  3. 3Pulling out a filtered subset to shareExporting only the matching rows as a new CSV avoids manually copying and pasting rows out of a large sheet, or sharing the entire original file when only a subset is relevant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my spreadsheet uploaded to a server?

No — the file is read and parsed entirely in your browser. Nothing you upload here is ever transmitted anywhere, which matters for spreadsheets containing sensitive or private data.

Does this work with both CSV and Excel (.xlsx) files?

Yes — both formats are parsed the same way, and the search, per-column breakdown, and export all work identically regardless of which one you upload.

What does the per-column breakdown actually show?

For each spreadsheet column (labeled A, B, C... the same way spreadsheet software labels them), it shows how many cells in that column contain your keyword — useful for understanding which fields actually reference it.

Does it search only the first sheet of an Excel file?

Yes — if your workbook has multiple sheets, only the first one is searched. Re-save or reorder the sheet you need as the first tab if it isn't already.

Is the search case-sensitive?

By default, no — "Kravoy" and "kravoy" are treated as the same match. Turn on the case-sensitive option if you specifically need an exact-case match.

Is this keyword counter free to use?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up and no limit on file size beyond what your browser can handle.
