More Control Than a Basic Dedupe

A simple duplicate remover just compares lines exactly as typed — which misses duplicates that only differ by capitalization or a trailing space, and never lets you choose which copy survives. This tool adds case-sensitivity and whitespace- trimming toggles, plus a choice between keeping the first or last occurrence of each repeated line, so the result matches what you actually consider a duplicate.

How to Use This Tool

  1. 1Paste your listEmails, URLs, names, log lines — anything with one item per line.
  2. 2Choose keep-first or keep-lastControls which occurrence survives when a duplicate is found.
  3. 3Adjust case-sensitivity and trimmingDecide whether "Apple" and "apple" count as duplicates, and whether stray spaces should be ignored when comparing.
  4. 4Copy or download the cleaned listThe result updates instantly, with a count of exactly how many duplicates were removed.

Where This Comes In Handy

  1. 1Cleaning up an email or contact listMerged lists from multiple sources commonly end up with the same address repeated — removing duplicates before importing avoids sending something twice.
  2. 2Deduplicating log output or a data exportLog files and CSV exports often repeat identical lines, and finding them by eye in a long file isn't practical.
  3. 3Tidying a list before pasting it elsewhereA quick pass to remove exact repeats before pasting a list into a spreadsheet, form, or another tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as a "duplicate" line?

Two lines with identical content, according to your chosen settings — by default this comparison is case-sensitive and does not trim whitespace, so "hello" and "Hello" (or "hello" and "hello ") are treated as different lines unless you turn those options on.

What's the difference between "keep first" and "keep last"?

When the same line appears multiple times, "keep first" keeps the earliest occurrence and removes the later ones (preserving original order), while "keep last" keeps the final occurrence and removes the earlier ones.

Does this remove blank lines too?

Only if a blank line itself is duplicated — the first blank line is kept like any other line, and additional blank lines are treated as duplicates of it under the same rules as everything else.

Does the order of the remaining lines change?

No — the original order is always preserved; only the duplicate occurrences are removed, whichever direction you choose to keep.

Is my text sent anywhere when I use this tool?

No — deduplication runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you paste here is transmitted anywhere.

Is this duplicate line remover free to use?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up and no length limit.
