Three Ways to Split, One Tool

Sometimes you know exactly which page ranges you need; sometimes you just want equal chunks; sometimes you want to eyeball the pages and pick exactly the right ones. This tool covers all three, with a visual thumbnail grid so you always see what you're working with.

How to Use This Tool

  1. 1Upload a PDFThumbnails render for every page so you can see exactly what you're splitting.
  2. 2Choose a split methodBy page range (e.g. "1-3, 5, 8-10"), every N pages, or manually picking pages.
  3. 3Review the output countSee how many files will be produced before splitting.
  4. 4Split & downloadOne PDF downloads directly; multiple files download as a single ZIP.

Good to Know

  • In range mode, each comma-separated group becomes its own output file — "1-3, 5, 8-10" produces 3 separate PDFs.
  • Pick Pages mode is for building one custom file from non-consecutive pages — click any thumbnail to include it.
  • Every N Pages is the fastest way to chop a long document into equal chunks, like splitting a 100-page report into 10-page sections.
  • All splitting happens in your browser using pdf-lib — nothing is uploaded to a server.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if my page range is invalid?

Out-of-range page numbers are automatically clamped to the document's actual page count, so a typo won't crash the tool.

Why do I get a ZIP file instead of a PDF?

When your selection produces more than one output file, they're bundled into a single ZIP so you get one download instead of several separate ones.

Can I preview which pages I've selected before splitting?

Yes — in Pick Pages mode, selected thumbnails are highlighted so you can confirm your selection before splitting.

Is there a file size limit?

No hard limit — very large PDFs are only bound by your device's available memory, since everything is processed locally.
